John Mankins
About John:
John entered the real estate brokerage business in 1978 and has been helping area residents buy, sell & trade real estate for almost a third of a century. John was the owner/managing broker of his own real estate brokerage company prior to joining the Wells Group early in 2005.
John grew up on a ranch east of Durango (in the Bayfield area) and graduated from Bayfield High School with honors. After attending Fort Lewis College on an academic scholarship, it didn’t take too long for John to find his way into real estate brokerage where he remains to this day. John's wife of 39 years, Jody, helps keep everything running smoothly.
John has experience in many facets of the real estate business – buying and selling homes land and ranches, property management (commercial & residential), investment real estate, bank foreclosed properties, minor land development, spec home building, as well as consulting with clients on projects within his areas of expertise.
John has served on many boards and committees in and out of the real estate community. John continues to remain involved in the community, including his service as a member of the Board of Directors for a local community owned bank for the past 11 years.
John has obtained the CRS (Certified Residential Specialist) designation – an accomplishment fewer than 5% of all Realtors can claim. His background in farming and ranching provide a deep understanding of water rights and local land use issues. You can count on John to provide the help you need and the ability to direct you to professional resources when appropriate.
